TallyPrime alternative — or companion

Grovia and TallyPrime: an alternative, or a companion?

TallyPrime is the accounting software most Indian CAs know best, and many businesses should keep it. Grovia runs the work around the books — leads, quotations, projects, the team, payroll, field staff and tickets — raises the GST invoices, and exports vouchers to Tally so your CA keeps working the way they do.

TallyPrime in brief

TallyPrime handles accounting, inventory, GST, e-invoicing, e-way bills, banking and payroll, and is licensed per computer: Silver for one PC, Gold for several. It is deep, fast and trusted by accountants.

It is accounting software at heart. Sales pipelines, project tasks, a team's daily work, customer tickets and a client portal are not what it is for.

Two ways to use Grovia with Tally

  • As a companion: run sales, projects and the team in Grovia, raise GST invoices there, and export to Tally for your CA.
  • As an alternative: if your books are simple, Grovia's double-entry accounts, ledgers, P&L, bank reconciliation and TDS may be all you need.
  • Moving from Tally: masters can be imported from Tally, so you do not start from a blank screen.

Which one is right for you?

Choose Grovia if

  • You need the sales pipeline, projects, team and payroll that sit around the accounts.
  • Your team works from phones and different places, not one office PC.
  • Your books are simple enough that built-in double-entry accounts will do — or you want to keep Tally and export to it.

Choose TallyPrime if

  • Your business is stock-heavy: inventory, godowns, manufacturing or trading.
  • Your accountant works only in Tally and wants every voucher entered there directly.
  • You want a one-time lifetime licence rather than a subscription.

What Grovia does not do

So you don't buy the wrong tool:

  • No stock, warehouse or manufacturing management (no MRP or bills of materials). Grovia is built for service businesses — agencies, consultants, CA and law firms, IT and field-service companies.
  • GST returns are prepared and exported for filing; Grovia does not file them for you, and e-invoices are uploaded manually.
  • It is a single cloud product, not a platform you customise with code or host on your own servers.

Frequently asked questions

Can Grovia export to Tally?
